Members New starting in 2011 is an Advisory Board to help the Commish with issues that come from time to time so he is not the only one involved in making decisions. At the end of the 2010 season, I (the Commish) solicited some volunteers to serve on the new Advisory Board and we now have five who have accepted and are a good cross section of captains; one from the As, two from the Bs and two from the Cs. It is anticipated that face to face meetings of the Board will not be necessary but that communications would take place by e-mail or telephone. The members are: Chris Holmes, Acton A team captain E-mail: chris@owlengineering.com Home phone: 978-456-7312 Jay Owen, Needham P&R B team captain E-mail: jay.owen@fmr.com Home phone: 781-444-7359 Jong Yang, Heritage B team captain E-mail: jong.yang@verizon.net Home phone: 978-369-9614 Neil Krug, Needham TC C team co-captain E-mial: nkrug@gggcpas.com Home phone: 781-449-1565 Ed Davidson, Sudbury River C team captain E-mail: esd22@rcn.com Home phone: 508-877-1855

Duties/Priorities
1. Help resolve disputes 2. Review rules and change if appropriate 3. Help recruit new teams
The biggest priority is to investigate whether it would be feasible to initiate an A-1 division. The rationale is that in the B division and to a lesser extent in the C division, the same teams go to the playoffs and even win the division or are a finalist. This is because these teams have a significant roster of players that are better than the norm in that division. In the Bs, there are many 4.5 players when the guideline is that B players should be about a 4.0. Yet many 4.5 players are not good enough to play on an A team as it is loaded with pros and/or 5.0 players. The A-1 division is intended to more equalize the teams at all levels yet not disenfranchise 4.5 level players.
Associated with a potential A-1 division could be rules that would automatically add A-1 teams and is present in some other leagues. That is if a team wins a division, it automatically moves up to the next level. We could have a modified rule such as this if a team wins or is a finalist two years in a row, it moves up. By that criterion, Sudbury River and Hingham in the Bs would move up to A-1 as they were either a winner or finalist the last two years. Also, some leagues have rules that teams in the basement automatically get dropped to the next lower level.
These are all items for the Board members to discuss and debate and try to come to some conclusions before the start of the 2011 season.
